College Park Archives
a second location for
National Archives in Washington D C

College Park

College Park Archives, in Maryland is a newer and second facility to house some records previously located in Washington D C and newer records as they arrive. This facility was needed because the Washington D C Archives building reached its' capacity in the 1960s, and many records had been moved to off-site storage and regional archives.

Their research rooms can accomodate up to 390 researchers at one time. While you are working on your ancestry and family history searches, take time out to look at the following records.

Here are some of the records that you will be able to search: the Nixon Presidential Materials; electronic records; motion picture, sound and video records; the John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection and in addition to Federal Census Records from 1790-1930 and more.

If you live near Washington D C and College Park, MD check into their volunteer program and see if there is a "Friends of the Archives" program. Check to see what educational programs or public workshops that are available to help you better use the National Archives Facilities.
