Our first guest is Nas whose real name is Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, a hip hop artist (music).
We will use Nas throughout. He is the son of Olu Dara, jazz musician.  His life and art were shaped in New York City's Queensbridge Housing.

Fannie Anne Little is Nas' mother of Southern roots. We learn about his grandparents Mac & Nannie Little living in North Carolina. He and his brother spend a few weeks every summer visiting his grandparents. We continue to learn about the Little family.

Nas learns about his great-grandmother Fannie Little, she is black. Fannie lives next door to another Fannie Little who is white.

Next is the story of Calvin Little and Pocahontas Little,

Angela Bassett

Angela is an actress who has portrayed iconic black women:  Tina Turner, Coretta King and Rosa Parks.
She also attended Yale University and earned 2 degrees one a masters'.  

She was born in New York City but grew up in St. Peterburg, Florida.  Daniel Benjamin Bassett, Jr is her father.

William Henry Bassett is her paternal great-grandfather born in 1846. He becomes a preacher. We hear
of George Ingram and Jinney Ingram, his wife.  What is their interest in Wm Henry Bassett.

Betty Jane Gilbert is Angela's mother. Slater Samuel Stokes is her grandfather and a preacher.
Slater's parents are: Henry Stokes and Emily Stokes. Angela's great grandparents.

Her DNA shows 77% SubSaharan  (32% Nigerian, 15% Benin/Togo & more) 21% European & Native American.

Valerie Bowman Jarrett

Valerie is a political crusader. She grew up on the South Side of Chicago and cut her political teeth on campaigning for the late Harold Washington, first black mayor of Chicago.

Currently senior advisor to the President of the United States.
Her parents are: Barbara Taylor, Doctor of Education, her father James E. Bowman Doctor of  Pathology and Genasis.

Robert Robinson Taylor a black man is Valerie's great grandfather. He attented M.I.T University. He became an architect. Booker T. Washington highly recommended Robert to assist in building the first black university: Tuskegee University.

Robert's father: Henry Taylor born 1823. Henry is Ms Jarrett's great, great grandfather. Find out the connection of Angus Taylor. 

Victor Narcisse Rochan is another great, great grandfather of Ms Jarrett on her maternal line. Learn about his politics.
