Pacific SanFrancisco Archives

Pacific SanFrancisco Archives is located in San Bruno, California and has genealogy research rooms and is a Records Center for retired Federal records. Some of the records are Federal records from Northern and Central California, Nevada (except for Clark County), Hawaii, American Samoa and the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands.

This branch of the National Archives is a major primary resource for the study of Asian-Pacific immigration, Naval, Native American and other aspects of American History.

The Holdings:

The holdings of the San Francisco Archives include over 70,000 cubic feet of original records dating from the 1850s to the 1980s, with a limited number of records as recent as the early 2000s.  The records were generated by the Federal courts and more than 100 Federal agency field office in:

California (northern and central)
Nevada (except Clark County)
American Samoa
Former Trust6 Territory of the Pacific Islands
i.e. Marshall, Caroline and Northern Mariana Islands.

Our holdings also include records of the U.S. Navy bases on foreign territory in the Pacific and Far East.

Our holdings are a primary resource for the study of Asian-Pacific immigration, environmental and natural history, naval and military activity in the Pacific, the American Indian experience, and many other aspects of United States History.

We also have a large collection of National Archives microfilm relating to the history of our region.

This facility has two research rooms: Textual Research Room and Microfilm Genealogy Room. For open hours:

Open: Monday thru Friday 7:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Wednesday extended time: 7:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.

Microfilm Genealogy Room, is in Leo J. Ryan Memorial Federal Building.
