Paula Deen is our guest celebrity on this episode of "Who Do You Think You Are". Ms Deen is a chef, cookbook author, restauranteur and she has her own television show on the "Food Channel".
Ms Deen has to 2 sons Jamie and Bobby Deen and they help her with the restaurant. Paula's first name is taken from her mother's family the "Paul".
We are on the journey with Ms Deen as she travels the State of Georgia, learning about her maternal line. Ms Deen's mother was Corrie Paul.
John Larkin Paul, her grandfather; John Liddle Paul, gr-grandfather.
W.B. Paul gr-gr-grandfather and he married Eliza Batts. From this point we search the Batts family back to the "Civil War". We learn that Eliza Batts parents are: John Batts and Mary Batts.
Mr. Batts was a planter (plantation owner), a politician, was a member of both houses of government, the Georgia Senate and House of Representatives. He was also a judge.
Through the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Federal Census of Georgia we learn much about John Batts and his family. One item we learn is John Batts was 45 years old and his son William age
