Pittsfield Archives located in Pittsfield, Massachusetts is one of three National Archives branches in the Northeast Region of ther U.S. It is a research center for genealogical and historical records. No original records at this location. Microfilm records are housed at this location for research purposes.

The following are a few of the documents you may check on microfilm:

American State Papers 1789-1838

The Continental Congress

Records pertaining to the American Revolution and The Civil War.

There are Chinese Immigration thru Canada, court records, maritime and much more.

This archives has a volunteer program, their volunteers are genealogists with an average of ten years research experience. At this location most have New England roots and knowledge that reaches across the pond, with expertise in German, Irish, and Polish research. Contact the archives if you are interested
even if you have not been researching for 10 years but have some experience and knowledge.

Friends of the Silvio O. Conte National Archives is another way of being a part of the national archives at this location.

NOTE:  The Pittsfield location no longer has a public research room. The microfilm and related genealogical material have been donated to the Berkshire Athenaeum (Pittsfield Public Library).
