Stewart Cho Gupta, also known as Martha Stewart, Margaret Cho and Sanjay Gupta. They are our guest celebrities for this episode of "Finding Your Roots". Martha Stewart used her creative and intelligence and turned her name into a brand.
Margaret Cho's first appearance was in "The All American Girl", and since her teen years, she wanted to be a comedian.
Sanjay Gupta had intelligence, talent and dreams of what he wanted from life and has been successful and a committed person.
Martha Stewart is the child of second generation immigrants. Her grandparents Frank Kostyra and Helena Krukar, were Polish Immigrants. Her parents are Edward and Stefanie Kostyra. We learn Ms stewart's grandfather Frank Kostyra was a basket maker. The town he lived in Poland was known for their products made from wicker.
We learned Ms Stewart modelled while in high school to earn money not just for herself but at times her checks had to go home because her father was out of work. She also did television
commercials while in college.
We learn Ms Stewart's creative abilities possibly stem from a family of creative people. She has seamtresses, gardners, basket makers, bakers etc in her family tree.
Martha ran a catering business for a decade or so, then she wrote a book on "Entertaining".
This was the beginning of the Martha Stewart brand.

Margaret Cho is a Korean American she was born in San Francisco in 1968. Both of her parents were from Korea. Before coming to the United States Ms Cho's father was a lawyer, after arriving in the United States he supported his family as a waiter and janitor.
Ms Cho's parents were separated when she was only one month old. Her father was sent back to South Korea because he was here on a student visa and not a work visa. Margaret went with her father. About a year later they were able to come back. Her mother stated in the United States during this time.
Ms Cho tells us she wanted to be a comedian since she was a teenager. The first we see of her abilities is when she is in the television "The All American Girl. She is now a very successful

Sanjay Gupta is a practicing neurosurgeon and CNN Chief Medical Correspondent. Mr. Gupta was born in Novi, Michigan in 1969. His family came from Sindh, India. They arrived in the United States in 1966. It was a long treck for them. Starting in Sindh, India, to Karachi, Bombay, Bangalore and Baroda.
Mr Gupta's ancestor Molarchand was a legend in India. His mother lived through the partition of India which created the country of Pakistan. Both his parents were engineers.
Mr. Gupta had dreams, intelligence and talent. Sanjay knew he had the abilities to make his dreams come true and to make a difference in this world.
